I received both a B.A. and an M.A. in early childhood education (ECE) from Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea. I taught at Ban-po Kindergarten in Seoul and worked as an instructor at several colleges in Korea before moving to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for my doctoral study. I hold a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in ECE. My academic advisor was Daniel J. Walsh.
I have been a faculty member of ECE in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University of Georgia since 2002. Currently, I am the Omer Clyde and Elizabeth Pharr Aderhold Professor in Education.
